There’s a masochistic joy in fast-forwarding too far, then rewinding just a bit, then too much, then giving up entirely and listening to the whole album like the ancients intended. Every cassette you find in a thrift store feels like discovering buried treasure, if the treasure chest also came with Metallica and some mysterious smudges that smell faintly like 1987. It’s impractical, charming, and proudly defies modern convenience—just like your uncle’s mullet.
