This oral history documents the professional career and technical leadership of Vinod Dham, a leader well known for his work at Intel and AMD and recipient of India’s Padma Bhushan award. Through a detailed recounting of his early relates his education in India, his move to the United States and his rise at Intel and AMD. The interview highlights his central role in pushing the x86 architecture at Intel, start-up Nexgen, and finally at AMD. His narrative offers a first-person account his time during a critical junction in the PC processor business. Dham reflects on the challenges facing Intel and how AMD changed the game with chiplet designs. He also offers his thoughts on the leadership qualities needed in the technology industry.
