Current Notes is one of my all-time favorite Atari magazines. It started as an Atari newsletter in 1984 and grew to a full-fledged hobbyist magazine by the time it ended in 1996. In 1995, the original publisher (Joe Waters) shut down the magazine, but it re-appeared later that year in an all-new format with a new publisher. From what I can tell it shut down for good in 1996. In fact, that might make it the longest-running Atari magazine.
In the late 80s I would usually buy a copy at the local Atari dealer. By the early 90s, my Dad had a subscription and I would snag his issue after he had read it.
In late 1993, the former ST Editor (Steve Kiepe) had to resign due to moving overseas. In an editorial, Joe Waters asked for anyone interested in taking over the position to get in touch with him. At the time I was working at Radio Shack and still taking a class, but I figured it would be fun to give it a try. I previously had a review published in the October 1993 issue, so I had some credentials at least!
